Watermelon radishes were a foreign ingredient to me until this recipe. They look like a pastel green beet from the outside but have a shockingly beautiful pink starburst pattern once cut open. When I went to style this recipe, one - it was hard not to eat all the components as I was made them and two - I tried to play up the pink a bit. I kept my lighting and props soft and monochromatic. I felt this allowed the colors of the dish to pop.
These rainbow macro bowls were another great photography challenge from the Grey Salt Collective Facebook group run by Gina Weathersby. We had to incorporate two different lighting angles. I chose a side light as my main and the other light was shot into the ceiling to soften the shadows.
You can try the recipe yourself here. Forewarning, the Spicy Tahini sauce is addicting!
