Hey,

We are the Hone's.

Like most couples, we started out with separate finances. However, after awhile reaching our life goals together felt stagnant. We weren't see progress. Then YNAB came into the picture. Before you get to thinking this, no this is not a paid sponsorship for You Need A Budget. We are not exaggerating when we say the app changed our lives forever. It immediately became clear where our money was going (and not going). The program opened up two key conversations; our spending habits and how we wanted our future lifestyle to look and feel. With our transactional motives aligned, we plan to have a conscious spending mindsets, live slower, and consume less. Our ultimate goal is to achieve financial independence. Doing so will allow us to travel the world in our physical prime years. In the meantime, there will be much determination and hopefully very few sacrifices! We will be sharing our adventures here on this little sliver of webspace.

Sarah Hone

Sarah drives the creative side of the partnership. She takes her 9 years of commercial photography expertise outside! She gravitates towards all of the vast colors and textures found outdoors. The austere grandeur of many landscapes humble her. She's aware she has it easy for most of her life. Backpacking and feeling uncomfortable for a few days is grounding. Out in the wild she feels small yet so strong. To be able to relive a sunset or a mountain-scape through one of her photos is the most rewarding keepsake of any trip.

For purchase of your very own print by Sarah, check out the Art Shop. If you spotted an image while browsing around here but don't see it in the shop, feel free to reach out and ask for it!

Brian Hone

Brian is the reason our trips ever happen. He is an excellent researcher and equipment nerd. He conjures up the most epic itineraries. From elevation maps, LighterPack graphs, potential backcountry sites, weather forecasts, places to eat off trail - no detail is left unturned. He is constantly striving to lighten his pack and take only what is necessary. His trail name was appropriately dubbed "Fresh Legs," due to his ceaseless endurance no matter the terrain or distance. He is known for running the last mile or so as if he had fresh legs from the morning.

In addition to his detailed mind, he is also a budget guru. Never feeling restrained, just pure contentment with living within reason and our means. It allows us to hone into what matters most to us: adventure!
